I first started using WordPress to blog about Albuquerque Real Estate in early 2010. I had started blogging sporadically in 2008 on my TopProducer blog, but it wasn’t until I stumbled upon ActiveRain during the summer of 2009 that I hit my blogging stride. Six months later I was introduced to WordPress and there’s been no looking back.

I love the fact that through blogging I can compete online with the large real estate brokerages , even though I have very little technical expertise or money to spend. I also love the fact that I control my own content and that I can easily tweak the look and feel of my site without having to learn only minimal HTML.

I could go on and on and on about how much I love WordPress, but suffice it to say that blogging, and in particular blogging on WordPress, saved my real estate career.

I've been part of the WordPress community since 2010, when I co-founded the Albuquerque WordPress meetup and co-organized the first-ever WordCamp Albuquerque. Over the years I co-organized four WordCamps in Albuquerque and spoke at events from Buenos Aires to Rio de Janeiro to Phoenix, in both English and Spanish, including an early WordPress for Kids session in Albuquerque that I'm still a little proud of. I spent the better part of a decade at Automattic building the company's Talent Acquisition function from the ground up, and somewhere in there, life got full: family, work, etc. Now I'm back, still at Automattic and stepping into the role of Head of Operations and Events for the WordPress Project and genuinely glad to be here. I have a deep love and respect for this community and a lot of energy to pitch in and help make WordPress!
