True to our programs&#8217; missions we are looking for local creative organizations that contribute to the Albuquerque community. This could be a business, artist, musician, start-up or any type of business that benefits Albuquerque. We will select three organizations and match them with a team of WordPress content producers, designers and developers to create a website in 4 hours.<\/p>\n<h3>PROCESS<\/h3>\n<p>The New Mexico community is invited to submit their project for consideration. The WordCamp Committee will choose three dynamic organizations that we believe express the creative, entrepreneurial or progressive spirit of Albuquerque. These three projects will have a team of experienced WordPress experts translating their vision into a fully functional WordPress site in a 4 hour time period.<\/p>\n<p>Selected organizations will be required to secure their own web hosting and domain name.<\/p>\n<h3>SCHEDULE<\/h3>\n<h4>SUBMISSION: August 5th \u2013 13th Open call for submissions is now over.<\/h4>\n<h4>SELECTION: August 17th<\/h4>\n<p>The WordCamp Committee has selected the following submissions for the Inaugural WordCamp Hackathon:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Sky Garden Urban Farm Market<\/strong><br \/>\nFresh local food store opening in downtown by October 1. Our storefront space a few steps from Central Ave., at 311 Gold St., will carry a rotating selection of New Mexico-grown produce, locally prepared lunches and dinners to go (expanding to include vegan and gluten free options), and a few staples to help to help meet the growing daily food needs of downtowners.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fairfield Farm &amp; Market &#8211; A Farmer&#8217;s Cooperative<br \/>\n<\/strong>Fairfield Farm &amp; Market is a farmer cooperative that not only strives for land stewardship\u2014such as helping revive the nostalgic King Orchard brand of apples\u2014but equally believes in the stewardship of letting farmers be farmers. With multiple levels of agriculture services from seedling to sales, Fairfield Farm &amp; Market works with producers through market or partnership packages to get their products to the local community. Fairfield Farm &amp; Market is a woman-owned cooperative committed to producers and the customers they serve in providing the best quality products in a streamlined support and supply chain model. After all, we are farmers, too.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cathryn McGill Productions<\/strong><br \/>\nI am a local performing artist&#8211;I call myself a cultural griot. \u00a0A griot in the West African tradition is a musician, an orator and aunifier. \u00a0I believe that I am all of those things. \u00a0Since arriving in New Mexico in 1984, I have used not only to give people pleasure and entertainment, but also as a means for invoking civic dialogue around important social subjects. \u00a0While working at the Rape Crisis Center, I started an annual benefit called the SAVI Fair (loosely fashioned after the Lilith Fair) and organized and produced afundraiser that used music, local talent and the stories of survivors of rape to raise money. \u00a0I worked for 10 years for the National Dance Institute as the &#8220;voice&#8221; of all of their end of year fundraising shows throughout the state.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>PREPARATION: August 20th \u2013 23rd<\/h4>\n<p>These three organizations will be matched with teams of WordPress content producers, designers and developers to collaborate on a concept that can be completed in 4 hours.<\/p>\n<h4>HACKATHON: Friday, August 24th at Holiday Inn Airport<\/h4>\n<p>The three groups consisting of organizations and WordPress experts will complete the majority of work on their websites during this three hour time period.<\/p>\n<h4>CONSULTATION: Saturday August 25th at SUVA<\/h4>\n<p>Break out sessions between groups and WordCamps speakers when possible.<\/p>\n<h4>PRESENTATIONS: Sunday, August 26th at SUVA<\/h4>\n<p>Final work is completed, consultation and instruction is provided and projects are presented.<\/p>\n<h3>ORGANIZERS<\/h3>\n<h4>Albuquerque Sprout<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.abqsprout.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">ABQ Sprout<\/a> is a recurring <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abqsprout.org\/category\/dinners\/\">public dinner<\/a> funding micro-grants for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abqsprout.org\/category\/projects\/\">local creative projects<\/a> that contribute to the Albuquerque community.<\/p>\n<h4>New Mexico Tech Council<\/h4>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmtechcouncil.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">New Mexico Technology Council<\/a> (\u201cTech Council\u201d or NMTC) is a member-driven association of businesses, organizations and tech professionals working together to promote the growth and success of New Mexico\u2019s technology business sectors.
