Volunteer

All volunteer positions for WordCamp Albuquerque 2020 have now been filled.

All volunteers must follow our Code of Conduct.

Event Set Up

Arrive early on Friday, March 20th to help set up signage, registration, SWAG, Sponsor area and more.

Registration Desk

Work with the Registration Team to greet people when they arrive at WordCamp, mark their name on our sign in list, and hand out name badges and SWAG. You will also be available to answer Event questions throughout the day. Note: No SWAG from non-sponsors will be provided so if you want to get your SWAG out there, please join us as an Event Sponsor.

Saturday will be a lighter day at the Registration Desk, but there will be some Saturday-only attendees to check in and provide badges.

Room Emcee

Emcees provide a brief introduction for each speaker and announce any messages the Organizers need to share with the Audience. Between sessions, the Emcee makes sure Speakers arrive and have everything they need. We are seeking 4 emcees.

Time Master

The Time Master plays an essential role in keeping WordCamp on track. You watch a timer on your cell phone and hold up a sign indicating to each Speaker how much time they have left. In between sessions, along with the Room Emcee, you make sure the Speaker has a working mic, and has their presentation connected to the projector. You also keep handicapped reserved seats open, and run errands if needed.

A/V Team

Each room will have its own video kit which we will use to record each session for posting to WordPress.tv. The A/V Team (Jamii Corley + 3 Volunteers) keeps the equipment running properly and the video focused on the Speaker. The A/V Team works with the CNM A/V Coordinator to ensure that audio and mics are working. The cameras we use are simple and easy to learn how to use. No experience is necessary.

Hall Monitors

Throughout the day, Hall Monitors hang out in the common areas to answer Camper’s questions, direct traffic, assist Sponsors, keep things tidy, and run errands as needed. During the first or last shifts, they may be asked to do some light moving of signage, furniture, or boxes. During lunch, Hall Monitors help with logistics and clean up.

Happiness Bar

Help answer Camper’s WordPress questions in a one-on-one setting throughout the day. Questions will range from code to general plugin advice to web strategy best practices. 2 or more years of WordPress experience is recommended for this Volunteer position. A Developer background is not required but is preferred. Please bring your laptop and power cord.

After Party Volunteers

During the After Party, the After party Volunteers will check badges, answer questions, and keep everything orderly. We are seeking 3-5 volunteers for this position.

Clean Up Crew

The Clean Up Crew will help clean up, pack boxes, load cars, and make sure we leave the CNM building just as it was before WordCamp Albuquerque 2020.
